Game UI UX Designer
Background
I joined the Shiba Eternity team during a major transition as the game was evolving from a traditional mobile title into a Web3-enabled experience. While the core gameplay was solid, the UX across onboarding, gameplay clarity, and new Web3 features needed refinement. My role was to bring structure, clarity, and a consistent visual direction that would support both new and experienced players.
The Problem
Before I joined, players entering the game often struggled to understand the next steps. The onboarding experience lacked clear guidance, gameplay actions weren’t always intuitive, and the Web3 layer added complexity that wasn’t reflected well in the existing UI. Tournament mode and quest systems were functional, but the UX around them didn’t highlight their depth or importance within the game.
The team needed a more guided experience, a stronger Day-1 journey, and cleaner frameworks for new features.
The process
My approach was to enhance the game without disrupting its core identity — focusing on clarity, usability, and flow.
Rebuilding the Day-1 Journey
I mapped and redesigned the complete Day-1 flow, shaping how players experience the game from first launch to their initial battles. This included restructuring steps, clarifying messaging, and rebuilding onboarding screens to make the experience feel simple, encouraging, and well-paced.
Tournament mode and gameplay enhancements
Tournament mode required a fully thought-out UX — not just screens. I designed the complete flow including the lobby, matchmaking, state transitions, reward clarity, and progression visibility.
I also worked on improving gameplay interactions and feedback loops so players could better understand actions, status, and choices during battles.
Web3 integration
As the game introduced Web3 mechanics, I redesigned the surrounding UX so new features like wallet interactions, assets, and quests felt approachable and optional rather than overwhelming. The goal was to blend Web3 into the main game naturally while keeping the player experience simple and enjoyable.
Reskinning and uplifting onboarding
The existing onboarding visuals were outdated compared to the evolving game style. I reskinned the entire onboarding experience to match the new visual direction and unify the early experience with the rest of the game.
The Impact
Over the course of 12 months, these improvements made Shiba Eternity significantly easier to understand and more enjoyable for new players. The Day-1 journey became clearer, gameplay actions felt more intuitive, and tournament mode offered a more structured and exciting experience.
Web3 elements integrated smoothly into the core game flow, and the overall UI felt more polished and modern.
My work helped create a cleaner, more guided experience that supported the game’s transition into a Web3-powered ecosystem while preserving the fun and personality of the original title.
